About a few decades ago, there was a golden era for our Sri Lankan teledrama. When you read the title I am sure there are few teledramas that crossed your mind.
(01) Sandagala thenna.
“Sandagalathenna” Teledrama telecasted on Rupavahini and the theme song by Amarasiri Pieris and Shashika Nisansala. And music arrangements by Nawarathne Gamage.
(02) Amba Yaluwo
However, among the Sri Lankan teledrama theme songs, this was the most popular children’s song at that time. This teledrama is based on the novel “Aba Yaluwo” by T.B. Illangaratne. Not to mention, the theme song music arrangements by Ananda Gamage and Lyrics by Bandula Nanayakkarawasam with the charming voice of Edward Jayakody.
(03) Andara weta
This is one of the most entertaining family dramas telecasted on ITN at that time. Also, this is the voice of Amarasiri Peiris. Lyrics by Hasantha Srilal Hettiarachchi and music arrangements by M.R. Chulasinghe
(04) Sambada Pabilis
Hence the voice is Anton Jude and Wimaljith Dombagahawatta. The main actor of this teledrama is also Anton Jude. Lyrics are done by Joe Abeywickrama. The music was done by Jayanath Warakagoda. Not to mention, This Teledrama is also an all-time favourite and almost every Sri Lankan watched this at least one episode. It’s such an entertaining teledrama.
(05) Sina pipena me wasanthaya | Ganga saha nissanka teledrama theme song
No doubt you recognize the voice of Lakshman Wijesekara and Samitha Mudunkotuwa. However, the music arrangement is also by Lakshaman Wijesekara with Lyrics. Not to mention, this teledrama has a simple and lovely story. Moreover, the Main Actors, Nissanka was the Lakshman Wijesekara and Ganga was Champa Sriyani.
(06) Dandubasnamanaya Teledrama theme song
Similarly, this all time favourite teledrama telecasted on Rupavahini a few decades ago. Also most importantly, this song was made with some “kolmura” lines and finalized by Sunil Rathnayake. However, the Music arrangements by Master Premasiri Kemadasa.
(07) Sakisanda eliyas
This is one of a most popular comedy-drama telecasted on TV. The main actor was Jayalath Manorathna. Moreover, the song is by Anton Jude. However, the music arrangements done by Jananath Warakagoda. And the lyrics by Jayalath Manorathna.
(08) Ambu Daruwo
Actually, this teledrama is based on the novel “Ambu daruwo” by Jayasena Jayakody.
The artists are Nanda Malini, Rohana Weerasinghe and Sunil Edirisinghe.
